Contact location resistance

Contact location resistance RST, DIN VDE 0100
    - Measurements of the inclination to electrostatic charging during walk test

At workplaces where electrostatically endangered components are processed and at which work is regularly carried out with open voltages, such as in testing shops, an electrically conductive floor covering must simultaneously insulate, as defined by VDE 0100. A measurement of the resistance of a location RST is used to assess the electric insulating power.

Note:
A lower limit to the contact resistance of a location RST for the places cited above is prescribed in VDE 0100 / Part 410. At places in which the rated voltage does not exceed 500 volts AC, the resistance of a location RST must amount to at least 5 x 104 Ω. If there are rated voltages of between 500 and 1,000 volts AC, the contact resistance of a location must be at least 5 x 105 Ω. Electrode surface: 96.9 in2 (625 cm2).
